Ivan Kordic
CURRICULUM VITAE

I was born in 1951 in Vionica (Čitluk) in Herzegovina. I finished primary school in Vionica, Tepčićii and Čitluk, and attended and finished, in 1970, the Gymnasium in Visoko. I commenced an undergraduate theology course in Sarajevo in 1973, and continued it in Freiburg (Germany) in 1975, where I also commenced a course in philosophy. I graduated in theology in 1978 (under Karl Lehmann), received an MA (under Werner Beierwaltes) in 1981 and a PhD (under Michael Elsässer) in 1987. Between 1981 and 1992 I worked as a gymnasium teacher in Freiburg, Singen and Konstanz.

I joined the Institute of Philosophy in Zagreb in 1992 and have been elected a senior researcher there in 2005.

Since 1993/4 I have sporadically taught the following courses at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb: Natural Religions, Pedagogy of Religious Culture and Mystics. I also run a seminar in philosophy (K. Jaspers, K. Vasilj, M. Heidegger).

Between 1994/5 and 1999/2000 I taught Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar.

Since 1995/6 I have been teaching Philosophy of Religion at the Studia Croatica, University of Zagreb, and Medieval and Contemporary philosophy at the same faculty since 1997/8. I have also been running seminars and pro-seminars (Kant, Jaspers, Heidegger, Thomas Aquinas, Augustine).

Since the academic year commencing in 2000 I have been teaching, at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Mostar, among other things, Renaissance Philosophy and Ontology.

I have participated at numerous international conferences - in Dubrovnik (on Schelling), Mannheim (on Flacius), Cres (on Petriæ), Zadar (on Jaspers and Heidegger), Lausanne (on Heidegger), as well as the national symposia - in Split and Zagreb.

I have supervised over 30 undergraduate theses and co-supervised a doctoral thesis. I am a tutor and a teacher at the post-graduate philosophy course at the Studia Croatica, University of Zagreb.

As a researcher I participated in the project on Matthias Flacius Illyricus focusing on his theology and philosophy, and have lead the research project entitled "Croatian Philosophy in the European Context". I am the chief researcher on the "Philosophical hermeneutics of M. Flacius and M. Heidegger" project.
